There is a conflict between the law and Board Rule 180-11-.07 (65+ Continuing Education exemption).  PLEASE NOTE THE LAW PREVAILS however, the rule will be changed to agree with the law to avoid any confusion.  This does not change or affect the 65+ exemption from Continuing Education.  Also, the draft rule states “registrant” and states the exemption is for continued years of “practice of engineering” however, omits “or land surveying”.  The rule will be revised and re-posted to include this change.

Board Rule 180-11-.03 was passed a few years ago to change the Minimum Technical Standards requirement from every 5 years to every 4 years.  The Secretary of State’s office lost the change therefore it will be advertised, posted and voted to approve again.  The Board has been recognizing the change however, this will make it official and enforceable.

Submitted by Mark Chastain, PLS, Chairman of the Georgia Licensing and Registration Board for Engineers and Land
