SB425 Becomes LAW July 1, 2018

Gov. Nathan Deal SIGNED SB 425 making hydrology optional, increasing education requirements, and adding Professional to our nomenclature. 

Special thanks to Legislative Chairman Spencer Johnson; Committee Members Mark Lincoln, Dean Olson, Trent Turk, Josh Lewis, Lane Bishop, Frank Gaddy and Phillip Roberts, and Robert Armstrong; State Board of Engineering and Land Surveying Chairman Mark Chastain; SAMSOG Lobbyist Steve Neff; Senator Steve Gooch; and Rep. Paulette Rakestraw for their vision, perseverance, and time getting this “idea” turned into reality.  Also, THANK YOU SAMSOG members who called, emailed, and visited your senators and representatives asking for their support.

Information and a FAQ article by the State Licensing Board will be mailed to all Georgia Professional Land Surveyors to help answer questions regarding this new law. Today is a great day for the Land Surveying Profession.
