February 18, 2020 - SAMSEF announces the opening of the scholarship application process for academic year 2020-2021.   Scholarship applications will be accepted online via the website until May 15, 2020.

January 2020 - SAMSEF Chairman, Trent Turk, announces the creation of five additional scholarships to help land surveying students throughout GA.  These "Regional" scholarships will benefit five land surveying students throughout the state with a $ 3,000.00 annual scholarship.

January 2020 - SAMSEF concluded the 2019 raffle fundraiser at the SAMSOG Annual Technical Seminar on January 16, 2020.  Mr. Keith Haralson, RPLS 2697, owner of Haralson and Associates in Hamilton GA, was the lucky winner of a Leica GS07 complete GPS rover kit and Leica CS20 data controller.  This new unit was generously donated to SAMSEF by Construction Laser, Inc. of McDonough, GA.   SAMSEF and SAMSOG both thank Construction Laser for their generous contribution.  Through this contribution we were able to raise in excess of $ 5,000 in ticket sales.  This money goes directly to support our technical scholarship program.

April 2019 - SAMSOG President, Dan Collins, announces the appointment of additional trustees to the board of directors for SAMSEF. We welcome the following new members to the board (subject to SAMSOG Board approval) :

March 2019 - SAMSEF announces the creation of a dedicated email account for the foundation. In order to prevent confusion going forward, all correspondence with the foundation should be directed to . This email address will be monitored by our executive director, Ginger Jones, as well as trustee members. You will responded to by the appropriate party based on your request.

March 2019 - SAMSEF holds a quarterly meeting at the offices of GeoSurvey, Ltd. in Marietta, GA. Many topics were discussed at this meeting, including the addition of new board members and other important topics.

February 2019 - SAMSEF announces that SAMSOG sustaining member Construction Laser ( has generously agreed to donate an item for our 2019 fundraiser raffle. Construction Laser will be donating a GeoMax Zenith 35 GPS Rover and Carlson Tablet loaded with SurveyCE software valued at $ 15,000.00.

January 2019 - SAMSEF concludes another successful fundraiser raffle at the 2019 SAMSOG Annual Technical Seminar. Thanks to Deaton Geo-Tronics ( for their generous donation of a Sokkia GCS-3 Network Rover Kit and HC-5000 Tablet Computer. This donation enabled SAMSEF to raise almost $ 5,000.00 to go towards our scholarship programs!

April 2015 - SAMSEF held its first annual fundraiser event - the 1st Annual SAMSEF Sporting Clays Tournament on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at the Ocmulgee River Gun Club in Macon GA. The event was a great success and proved that many land surveyors throughout our state support the efforts of our foundation. All proceeds after expenses went to benefit the foundation.

Jan 2015 - Champion Instruments donates new total station surveying instrument to the foundation for fundraising efforts. The foundation plans to sell tickets for $20.00 each and hold a drawing at the 2015 Annual Summer Meeting for SAMSOG in Jekyll Island.

Oct 2014 - After years of meetings, paperwork, and determination, the SAMSOG Education Foundation finally gained status as a 501c3 charitable organization. Those wishing to support education for future land surveyors and land surveying programs finally can make tax deductible donations!

Jan 2014 - The SAMSOG Education Foundation holds its inaugural meeting of the initial board of trustees. Many issues were handled during this meeting, including hiring Ginger Jones as Executive Director, adopting by-laws, and electing officers.
