A sample plat has been developed and is a valid temporary compromise that has been worked on for the past 3 months by SAMSOG. The Georgia County Clerks Association, the Georgia Association of County Commissioners, the State Board of Registration and the Georgia Municipal Association are aware and accepting of a plat submitted using the sample plat developed by SAMSOG.
SAMSOG has taken the lead due to the unintended consequences to the Professional Land Surveyor and the public interests as a result of the former house bill known as HB 1004 or the e-file bill that will become law January 1, 2017. I stress "temporary". There is still much work to be done at the Capitol to resolve all of the problems that have been encountered however, SAMSOG is continuing to work with the interested parties and the Attorney General on a new law. I believe we will have a permanent legislative solution that will be more equitable and less encumbering for us and the public as we move forward to a statewide system of electronically recording plats.
I would like to extend my most sincere appreciation to the members of the SAMSOG HB 1004 Committee for their tireless efforts in addressing and rectifying the issues at hand. They have given up many hours of family and work to accomplish the solutions thus far, and to them I say "Thank you".
