Jim graduated from Southern Technical Institute in 1975 with Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering Technology. Licensed surveyor in Georgia (LS 2113) & South Carolina (LS 9213) & an E.I.T. in Georgia, he started surveying business in 1979 and is still in business 3110 years later.  He has served several terms as a SAMSOG director and is currently serving as the Georgia state Trig-Star coordinator for SAMSOG.  Jim has married to Gloria for 33 years, and has 2 children, Tiffany age 24 and Matt age 26.
DALE YAWN, R.L.S. 2510
Born and raised in Savannah, Georgia. Dale started surveying with the Georgia State Highway Department (now Georgia DOT) staking out Interstate Highway 95 through Coastal Georgia. He worked with local surveyors in the Savannah area, and with a national engineering firm in Atlanta. Dale became licensed in Georgia in 1990 then moved to Trussville, Alabama in 1992 and gained Alabama license. Returning to Savannah in 1993, he worked for a local engineering firm for 10 years. Dale became licensed in Florida in 2000 and started my own business, Yawn Land Surveys, in 2004.
 Craig Brewer is the owner of Brewer Land Surveying. He holds a BBA degree from Brewton Parker College and is licensed to survey in Georgia and South Carolina.  Craig has served SAMSOG as a Director, and served the Coastal Chapter as President, Vice President, Secretary, and currently serves as Chapter Representative.  Craig enjoys spending time with his family and writing product reviews for Professional Surveyor magazine. He lives in Pooler with his wife and three children and can be reached via phone at 912-856-2205 or via email at
Joey lives in Cairo, Georgia where he started Joey Brock Land Surveying, LLC, in 2005. He is a founding member of the Wiregrass Chapter, where he currently serves as Chapter Representative. Joey attended Middle Georgia College and Southern Tech (Southern Polytechnic State University) . He obtained his license in Georgia in 2004 and in Alabama in 2007. Joey and his wife, Belinda, have one son Drew (16). Joey enjoys camping, hunting and fishing.
 VIRGIL F. (FRANK) GADDY, JR., P.E. 17324, R.L.S. 2661
Frank is a second-generation surveyor. Frank has been a member of SAMSOG, since 1996 and currently serves as Atlanta Chapter President and Chapter Representative. Frank also serves on the Legislative Committee and is the current Secretary/Treasurer of SAMPAC. Frank earned his Bachelors Degree from Georgia Tech in 1982 and obtained additional classes from Southern Polytechnic to be eligible to become a RLS in 1995. Frank is the proud father of a new graduate of UGA (Heather – May ‘2011) and has two additional children in college (Franklin T. – Kennesaw) and (Christie – Gwinnett Tech.). Frank has been married to Janice for 28 years. They currently attend Marietta First Baptist Church. They both enjoy riding motorcycles. Frank is the guy that occasionally rides the orange chopper to state meetings. Janice rides a 1200 cc Sportster and refuses to ride double behind Frank. Frank is the owner/president of Gaddy Surveying & Design, Inc.
Pat was born in the original Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta and has lived in and around Atlanta all his life.
He began surveying in the summer of 1966 as a summer job with Lum Hall & Assoc. in College Park, GA. after graduating high school. He attended the University of Georgia from 1966 – 1968 and continued to survey during the summers with H.E. Harper Land Surveyor. Jack Harper was his crew chief that first summer at Lum Hall.
Pat began surveying full time in 1968 for Harper and continued with several companies until 1986 when he was convinced to become a salesman by Ed Cowherd at C & G Software. Pat had worked with Ed and Dean Goodman at Harper in the early 70s and had been a crew chief for Cowherd – Goodman Assoc in 1979. During this time, he attended night classes at Southern Tech and became a registered Land surveyor (GA#2311) in January 1986.
He worked at C & G until taking a job with Topcon America Corp. in March of 1990 as the joint S.E. Sales Manager with Josh Veal. From then until the present he has worked for several manufacturers and dealers and is now with Earl Dudley, Inc. in Duluth, GA.
Pat now lives in Madison, GA with wife Pam Baxter and has a son, Michael Harris (33), in Marietta.
Mark Patrick, 51, is married with three children and is a dual registrant in the State of Georgia. Mark attended The Southern Institute of Technology for two years before finishing at The Georgia Institute of Technology with a Bachelors of Civil Engineering in 1985. Mark gained experience in the engineering and surveying fields at Piedmont Olsen and Hensley and Patrick and Associates prior to creating his own firm in 1992. Mark directed and managed
M.D. Patrick Engineering Inc from 1992 until July of 2009. In 2009 Mark accepted a position in The City of Milledgeville as their City Engineer. At this time Mark is creating a G.I.S. system for the City and is actively involved in the Management of City projects.
Phillip, a member of 8 years, is the current chapter representative for the South Central chapter of SAMSOG and was previously the membership chairman for the chapter.
He attended Valdosta State College, Mercer University in Macon, and Middle Georgia College in Cochran.
He is the owner of Roberts Surveying, Inc. in Valdosta that specializes in boundary and topographical surveys as well as commercial and industrial construction layout.
He resides in Valdosta with his wife, Cindy and their three children, Lauren, Parker, and Brody.

Robert N. Shupe graduated with honors from Southern Technical Institute in 1978 and obtained his license as a Georgia Registered Land Surveyor in 1982. In 1988, he opened a land surveying business and is the current president of Shupe Surveying Company, P.C. in Brunswick, Georgia. Mr. Shupe has held many positions with the Surveying and Mapping Society of Georgia and is currently the immediate past president. Mr. Shupe is a member of the American Congress on Surveying and Mapping. He currently holds the office of County Surveyor for Glynn County.  
Rodney is the owner and president of Harris Surveying and Engineering Company in Valdosta. He is licensed in the state of Georgia as a Professional Surveyor (since 2005) and a Registered Forester (since 2000) with a solid background in multiple disciplines of surveying and forestry. Rodney has been a member of SAMSOG since 2007 and is currently the Vice-president of the South Central Georgia Chapter. He has been involved in Land Surveying and Mapping for 14 years.
