Qualifications/Job Description
PBS&J’s Geomatics Internship Program began in the summer of 2007. The program offers Surveying & Geomatics Students the opportunity to gain valuable experience to apply the knowledge they have gained during their studies. Students who decide to join the PBS&J Team will enjoy using state of the art equipment and software. Pay ranges vary depending on experience but typically range from $11/hour to $14/hour.
 
Upon graduating, the student will chose his/hers top three office locations for their permanent position. The availability of an office location may vary based on office workload.
 
  
Education & Experience requirements:
 
  • Education – Enrollment in a 4-year college level Geomatics or Surveying and Mapping program. Freshmen or Sophomores are preferred for entry into the program but Juniors and Seniors may also be considered.
  • Experience – None necessary but is a plus.
  • Special Skills – Knowledge of the use of Total Stations, GPS Units, and electronic Data Collectors is beneficial.
  • Professional Registrations – None necessary.
Job Duties:
  • Records the results of data acquisition and performs computations from field notes to verify accuracy.
  • Analyzes data to determine or verify the location of boundary lines.
  • Participates in the preparation of record plats, maps and reports.
  • Reduction of raw data into coordinate form using Least Squares Adjustment.
  • Utilizes CAD software to prepare or adjust maps and drawings.
  • Assists in the writing of legal descriptions.
  • May assist a Geomaticist in compiling field party chief notes and electronic data.
  • May include extensive travel to field sites locally, nationally, or internationally.
  • Operation of Surveying Equipment.
